Creating a interchangeable .so library

Postby poweroutlet566 » Thu Nov 18, 2010 4:27 pm

Dear Folks,

Is there a version of this cula library that exposes the CUDA function names the same way as they would appear in a standard installation of BLAS/LAPACK? I have software that can use any BLAS as long as the library exposes the right function names.... (note that this was my main reason for purchasing this software).

Hi,

What software are you trying to plug the library into? You asked about BLAS functions -- we haven't yet provided any BLAS-level functions, for those you'd need to look into CUBLAS.

We haven't released any version of the library that exposes CULA functions in the way that you are expecting. The key restriction here is that within a given program you can't have multiple functions with the same name. The bridge interface gets around this by rewriting the function names at compile time, which isn't quite the same as the link time solution that you're asking about. For a link time solution you'd need to do something more advanced and we haven't yet provided a solution for that need.
